This banderilla is a pickled product that combines olives and chili peppers with a preserved fish, usually anchovy, held together with a toothpick.
The name was given in reference to the main character in the 1946 film Gilda, played by actress Rita Hayworth, because the banderilla is "salty, green, and a little spicy." The name originated in San Sebastián.
Like all pickles, its flavor is strong and very acidic, making it ideal as an aperitif accompanied by a drink.
