Far from what it may seem, Master's Gin Selection was born in Spain by the MG Distillery, a Catalan company based in Vilanova i la Geltrú. It was the year 1982 when the Master Distiller of the family company gave shape to an idea that was on his mind: to create the perfect gin. For this, he had to travel tirelessly around the globe, until he found the perfect ingredients that shaped his dream: orange peel from Valencia, cardamom from Guatemala, herbs and juniper from the Pyrenees, coriander from Spain. and, finally, the alembic in London, the birthplace of London Dry Gin.
A journey in search of the essential ingredients
But not everything is the ingredients, without an exhaustive process the raw material is useless. And the Master's Gin Selection process is. First, the citrus fruits undergo a 40-day maceration process in sealed tanks, so that the essential oils are completely released. Next, cardamom, juniper, coriander and a hydroalcoholic solution are added to these, which are kept for 24 hours in the still. After this process, they must still go through two more distillations, the first one at a temperature between 80 and 87 degrees for 8 hours, and the second by adding grain alcohol and demineralized water to lower the graduation. Result: the perfect gin.
Sight, smell and taste. A bluish bottle, with a wide body and a narrow mouth, is the guardian of this Catalan elixir. Once poured into a glass, Master's Gin Selection appears crystal clear and pure, spreading aromas of herbs, juniper and wild berries through the air. Finally, on the palate it is soft and aromatic, with a good entry resulting from its exhaustive distillation.
As for the best way to taste this premium gin, at Yo pongo el hielo we recommend keeping it simple: tonic, a twist of lemon and three or four pieces of ice, all mixed inside a balloon glass. And to enjoy.
Master's Selection Gin is a fantastic Premium London Dry Gin with an alcoholic volume of 40% from Spain, without a doubt, one of the best in the Gin category.
